This week marks a great week for everyone who is looking forward to eventually “zipping” to and from Rochester aboard a true high-speed passenger train.
The Alliance and nearly 300 supporters, elected officials and business leaders gathered in Rochester last evening to unveil Zip Rail — the name of the high-speed passenger rail line that will connect Rochester and the Twin Cities.

As you know, Zip Rail is a huge opportunity for the greater Rochester area because it will encourage economic growth, allow us to plan for the future and enhance our region’s quality of life.
Zip Rail will travel at speeds ranging from 110 to 150 mph, and potentially higher, during set travel schedules aimed at peak travel times. Passengers will benefit from amenities such as spacious seating, space to work, read or relax, and reliable and safe travel in any weather.
We continue to be pleased that supporters like you from across the region and metro area are on board with Zip Rail, the state’s first opportunity for true high-speed passenger rail service. Your support is a crucial piece of securing a Rochester rail corridor. Stay tuned for future updates as the Alliance works with the Minnesota Department of Transportation to make Zip Rail a reality.
