Rochester News For Those Who Don't Read the PB
I don't read the PB but I have picked up the paper the past few weeks for the holiday ads and I was intrigued because I learned what is going on in the few of the places I drive by frequently and wonder what IS going on there. This is what I learned from the past couple HEARD ON THE STREET articles from Jeff Kiger.
1. Subway is building a new restaurant where the old BP gas station was on 37th Street NW off the exit from Hwy 52. That is nice.
2. What is really great about their move is that we get a new independent ice cream shop, Flapdoodles Ice Cream. I love ice cream! They should open in May and they will have a drive through. Nice.
3. More cheese! I love the cheese at ZZest but I am excited to try Ellsworth Coop Creamery. They are planning on having more than 80 types of cheeses, milk, butter, and fresh cheese curds, honey, cookies, and fudge. I will love another place to grab a sandwich and soup which is in their future plans.
I do get excited everytime I read that we are getting more small businesses and growing as a community in tough times. I love new specialty shops. I consider myself a foodie and this kind of news makes living here, shopping here, and eating here better and better.
